William L. Covahey, 92, a resident of Glen Burnie and formerly of Baltimore, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mr. Covahey was born December 6, 1927 in Cockeysville, MD to the late John and Mary Covahey. He served honorably in the US Marines as a Gunnery Sergeant. He worked as a manager for A&P, Union local #27 until his retirement. Played in minor league baseball as a pitcher for the Yankees organization. He loved baseball, especially the Orioles and enjoyed going to the racetrack.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Covahey is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years Laverne Covahey, sons; William Covahey, Michael Covahey, Leonard Covahey, Andrew Covahey, grandson Andrew J. Covahey and 3 siblings. He is survived by his children Deborah Manning and Martin Covahey, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit Friday, March 20th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122. Due to the state of Maryland limiting public gatherings to 10 people, please consider keeping your visit short to allow space for everyone who wishes to pay their respects. Also, due to these recent developments, the Covahey family will be keeping the funeral service private for immediate family only. Interment at Glen Haven Memorial Park immediately following the funeral service.
