Thomas H. Nichols, Jr.

Thomas H. Nichols Jr., 80, a 35 year resident of Pasadena, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020.

Mr. Nichols was born in Chester, Pennsylvania on October 31, 1940 to the late Thomas Sr. and Harriet Nichols. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corp from 1958 - 1962. After returning from his time in the service, he moved to Severn, Maryland in the mid-1960's and began a career with Geico Insurance Company that would last for more than 25 years. Thomas then worked for Anne Arundel County Public Schools for 5 years before retiring.

Mr. Nichols loved being outdoors, especially walking in the park and hiking.  He also enjoyed going to the casino, shopping at flea markets, going out to dinner and the movies, listening to all kinds of music (especially Christmas music), and he was an avid reader. His hobbies included bowling and fishing. Above all, Thomas loved being around people and visiting family. His kindness, quick wit, and amazing sense of humor were always appreciated and he will be missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Nichols is preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry and Robert Nichols, and sisters, Gale Garren and Carol Moran. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Nichols, who was married to Thomas for 33 years, but was together with him for over 40 years; son, Thomas Henry Nichols, III; daughter, Michele Nichols; step-daughters, Tammy Kelso (son-in-law, Raymond Kelso) and Karen Donton (son-in-law, Terry Donton); brothers, Teddy, Denny, and David Nichols; sister, Barbara Coon; 8 grandchildren, Brandon, Justine, Ella, Chris, Randy, Zachary, Shannon, and Matthew; 4 great-grandchildren, Ashton, Logan, Scarlett, and Elaina; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, January 6 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Rd., Pasadena, MD 21122 where funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. Interment private. The funeral service will also be livestreamed on the obituary page and on Stallings Funeral Home's Facebook page (click HERE).

Please be aware that, due to county-mandated COVID-19 restrictions, Stallings Funeral Home is only allowing 40 people in the building at a time and face coverings must be worn while inside.
