Steven Polczynski, Sr. Obituary

Steven William Polczynski, Sr., was a man whose life spoke louder than his words — through his faith, his love for family, and the way he faithfully showed up for others. Born on November 7, 1963, to William Richard Polczynski and Audrey Mae Polczynski, Steven lived a life marked by integrity, humility, and devotion to God.

Steven wore many titles throughout his life — Branch Manager and salesman at Metro Bobcat, board member, worship leader and teacher at New Beginnings Full Gospel — but the role he cherished most was being a husband, father, and servant of the Lord.

He was a true brother in Christ, a true patriot to the country that he loved, a man who worshiped God not only with song but through love, generosity, kindness, truth, and faithfulness.

From the beginning to the end, Steven loved the outdoors. He was a hunter and fisherman at heart, finding peace in God's creation. Much of his life was spent in Pasadena, Maryland, where he raised his children and built a home full of memories. Some of his happiest moments were made traveling with family and friends— especially trips to Myrtle Beach and many joyful cruise adventures.

Steven was most alive when he was leading worship. Music was his offering, his prayer, and his joy. He had a gift for drawing people into the presence of God, and he used that gift faithfully whenever the opportunity arose.

In 1987, Steven overcame thyroid cancer, a battle that revealed his strength and unwavering faith. Years later, while caring for his elderly mother, Steven contracted COVID. Due to diabetes and secondary complications, he was hospitalized, where he suffered two cardiac arrests and fell into a coma. What followed was a five-and-a-half-year journey marked by perseverance, sacrifice, and deep love. Through hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and their private home, Steven and his wife fought together for the best quality of life possible.

Throughout those years, God used Steven and Hilda's journey as a living testimony— to share God's love, faithfulness, and strength in the midst of suffering. Even in hardship, Steven's life continued to point others toward hope.

Steven will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his playful teasing, his gentle humor, and the laughter he brought into so many lives. His memory will be forever cherished by his devoted wife and faithful caregiver, Hilda Marie Polczynski; his children, Steven William Polczynski Jr. and Shelby Lynn Bohlman; his five grandchildren, Steven Connor Rice, Silas William Polczynski, Quinton Richard Polczynski, Levi Truett Polczynski, and Lorelei Mae Bohlman; and his great-grandson, Braxton Dean Williams.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, January 2nd, from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122, where a service will begin at 7:30 pm. Interment is private.

Steven's life was a testimony of endurance, faith, and love—lived fully, even through trial.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7
