On October 6th, Stephen L. Carter, after recovering from surgery and the devastating effects of Myotonic Dystrophy, passed away at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Stephen was born December 28,1964, Baltimore, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth (Lilly) and Lewis E. Carter.
Stephen was the youngest of five children, sisters Maria, Patricia and Beth and brother Michael. Raised in Pasadena, MD, he graduated from Chesapeake High School. Always passionate about working with his hands he became a carpenter and builder. He was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. Stephen was a huge fan of 80's Rock & Roll and knew the discography and history of his favorite bands. A loyal Ravens supporter, he never missed a game and never gave up hope for a Super Bowl Victory.
Stephen fiercely loved his family and many lifelong friends, a sentiment returned in spades. He had a great sense of humor. He was always regaling his nieces and nephews with jokes; they would seek him out just to see what he might share next. Perhaps not appropriate but still funny. Stephen taught us so much about courage and strength as he battled his disease. We love him and will miss him forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 6, 2021, at 11:00am with a reception following at Magothy United Methodist Church, 3703 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD - Chapel In The Woods (weather pending). In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to MDS by clicking HERE
