Shawn Patrick McMurdy

On Monday, January 11, 2021, Shawn Patrick McMurdy, loving son, fiancé, dad of three children, brother, nephew, uncle and friend passed away at the young age of 30.

Shawn was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26, 1990, to Patrick and Deirdre McMurdy. After completing high school, Shawn worked as an auto mechanic and auto body repair specialist. He had a real talent for auto body repair and always enjoyed helping anyone who needed auto body work as he was proud of the work he did.

Shawn enjoyed spending his days with his family. Teaching his son, Ashton, about cars, auto mechanics, and bodywork, they began numerous project cars, including his newly found G-Body Cutlass. A very talented and successful BMX racer, some will say he is known as a legend on the track. His daughter, Lillian, began following in his BMX racing tracks, spending many nights and weekends following his direction, teaching her to be the absolute best she could be in her own races. His evenings were typically spent snuggled on the sofa with his youngest daughter, Isabella, eating junk food and binge-watching Anime. When he wasn’t with the kids, you’d find Shawn almost always with his fiancé and love, Erin. They spent many days at his parents' home, either in the garage with his Dad working on motorcycle projects, or inside with his Mom, aunt and siblings.  Shawn was known for causing a ruckus each time he’d visit to the point of stealing the Toaster Struddles they would hide from him in the freezer. He took to heart what being a friend meant and tried his absolute best to do whatever his friends needed.

Shawn is survived by his parents, 3 siblings, fiancé, 3 children and numerous members of their extended family.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, Maryland 21122 from 3pm-5pm & 7pm-9pm. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Shawn’s go fund me page by clicking here.

Please be aware that, due to county-mandated COVID-19 restrictions, Stallings Funeral Home is only allowing 40 people in the building at a time and face coverings must be worn while inside.

A celebration of life reception will be held on May 22, 2021. Details about the location and time will be shared at a later date.
