Ruth Rogers Hughes, 86, a resident of Pasadena, MD for over 70 years and formerly of Kyles Ford, Tennessee, died on May 27, 2020 at the Genesis Health Care Center in Severna Park.
Ms. Hughes was born on July 16, 1933 in Edison, TN to the late James and Betty Rogers. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also took her Christian faith very seriously, reading the Bible often and attending the Chesapeake Christian Center as a faithful member for almost 40 years. She truly loved Jesus. In addition to spending time with her church and family, Ruth also enjoyed bird watching.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Hughes is also preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters and 1 great-grandson. She is survived by her sons, David Cole of Annapolis, Virgal Cole of Tennessee, and Henry Cole of Manchester; daughters, Mabel Lawson of Tennessee and Sherlie Hale of Pasadena; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
Friends and family may visit on Saturday, May 30 from 3-5 p.m. at the Chesapeake Christian Center, 206 Weston Woods Dr., Pasadena, MD 21122. For the safety of the public and in accordance with government guidelines, the church building will be sanitized and social distancing will be encouraged. Face masks must also be worn while in the building.
Friends and family may also visit on Tuesday, June 2 from 5-7 p.m. at Christian-Sells Funeral Home, 1520 East Main Street, Rogersville, TN 37857 where a funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, June 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Rogers Cemetery in Edison, TN.
