Russell Lee Schlick, 88 yrs old, a lifelong resident of Pasadena, MD passed away Thursday, January 6th 2022 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mr. Schlick was born October 11th, 1933 in Baltimore MD to the late Mr. Malcom Schlick and Esther Rader-Schlick.
Russell has been a volunteer Fireman since he was 15 years old. He volunteered at Green Haven Volunteer Fire Department, Armiger Volunteer Fire Department and Riviera Beach Volunteer Fire Department. He loved everything that involved the Fire Department.
Russell adored his reconditioned antique fire trucks. Those trucks were exhibited at truck shows, participated in parades, carried and honored fallen firefighters and even attended a wedding. Russell and Tim funded Santa Claus for 15 years thru the streets of Green Haven throwing candy canes to kids. Many firemen through the years have volunteered to drive the fire trucks to these events. In recent years, Bob and Dominic Hay and Ricky Katsaros were faithfully there to drive to all events.
Russell loved to feast at the local restaurants, such as Honey Bee, Johnny’s Family Restaurant and Denny’s.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved sister Hazel Thompson. He is survived by his niece Tracey Kelley, nephew Melvin Olson and steadfast best friend and caretaker Tim Johnson. Daniel Pitts was his roommate for 33 years. Mr. Pitts, who worked with Russell in the earlier years and later years, cared for him like he was his father.
