Rosemary M. Riston

Rosemary Riston (nee Spaight) age 80 died on January 28th 2024, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Rose is survived by her son Steven M. Riston, (Cynthia Koch Riston), daughter Patti Snider (nee Riston): sister Bernadette Warren (nee Spaight), brother Martin Spaight. 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents John D. Spaight and Helen C. Spaight (nee Ward), her sister Marsha Ann Lanham (nee Spaight) and brother Frank Spaight.

Rose was born on March 24, 1943 at 3:45 AM at home in Washington DC. She grew up in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland. Rose enjoyed spending time with her siblings and summers in Colonial Beach, VA. When grandchildren, nieces and nephews came along she was over the moon and helped with babysitting and caring for them. Up until she went in the nursing home in 2020 Rose cared for a family member for 19 years who at times was unable to care for herself. Rose earned the titles of Mom, Aunt Rosie, Grandma Rose and “Golden Girl”. Rose was stubborn, spirited, wonderful, kindhearted and fun loving. She was a big part of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews lives growing up. Some of her favorite pass times were dancing, games shows, gardening and so much more.
