Roland A. Smith, Sr., 88, a 28 year resident of Lusby and formerly of Pasadena, Maryland, died on June 17, 2022 at his daughter's home in Pasadena.
Mr. Smith was born on September 28, 1933 in Baltimore, MD to the late William Sr. and Agnes Smith. He served honorably in the United States Army and eventually began a long and successful career with Koppers. He retired from there as a Superintendent of Quality at 58 years old and with over 40 years of service. Outside of work, Roland was a member of Solley United Methodist Church, a singer with the Sons of Severn Quartet, a licensed ham radio operator, and the founder and proud supporter of Lake Shore Baseball where he also served as their Chief Umpire and League President. In his spare time, he was an avid bowler for 2 different leagues and enjoyed crabbing, fishing, golfing, watching all kinds of sports, and playing baseball in his younger years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Beverly J. Smith; granddaughter, Erica Jennifer Smith; and 7 siblings. He is survived by his sons, Roland (Sharon) A. Smith, Jr. and Gene (Darlene) R. Smith; daughter, Terri (Brian) Lynn Siwinski; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, June 21 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Rd., Pasadena, MD 21122 where funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 22 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
