Roland G. Roberts

Roland G. Roberts, age 91, a 53 year resident of Pasadena, passed peacefully surrounded by his family and his beloved dog, "Ellie" on July 24, 2022 at his residence.

He was born on October 4, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Frank and Myrtle Roberts.

Mr. Roberts served honorably in the US Army, and active reserves.  He worked as a crane operator and supervisor for 44 years at Bethlehem Steel, retiring in 1992.

Mr. Roberts was an active volunteer at Downs Park for many years where he enjoyed conducting Maple Sap demonstrations and helping to build the playground.  Mr. Roberts was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He was a member of the Pasadena Sports Fishermen's Association.  His character was shown best when he was coaching Lake Shore Softball which he did from 1977 to 1985. Mr. Roberts was a kind and loving husband to his wife Susanne, and an amazing father to their daughter Millicent and grandsons Benjamin and Joseph.

Mr. Roberts also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, yard work, caring for his dogs and being a dedicated grandpa.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Marion and William Roberts and his sister Mildred Zaleski.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife of 57 years, Susanne T. Roberts, his daughter Millicent I. Miller and her husband Bob, and his grandchildren; Benjamin Gary Miller, Benjamins wife Kelly Rose Miller (nee Gilbert), and Joseph Tucker Miller.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, July 29, 2022 from 11:30 to 12:30 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 12:30 PM.  Interment is at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Downs Park PO Box 881, Pasadena, MD 21123.
