Robert Zahorcak Obituary

Robert Paul Zahorcak, 80, a 15 year resident of Glen Burnie, MD and formerly of Lake Hiawatha, NJ, died on October 12, 2021 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

Mr. Zahorcak was born on March 14, 1941 in Manhattan, NY to the late Paul and Mary Zahorcak. He graduated from Passaic High School in New Jersey in 1959 and immediately enlisted in the Untied States Army. After being honorably discharged from the military, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering and a Master's Degree in Computer Science, both from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Robert then used his knowledge and skills to build a long and successful career, working for Western Electric in Newark, Bell Labs in Whippany, and AT&T (later Lucent) at Liberty Corner, NJ. He remained with AT&T for 25 years, retiring in 1995. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time with his family, working with computers, classic science fiction, and listening to Jazz music.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Zahorcak is preceded in death by his brother, John Zahorcak and sisters, Mary Szot and Dorothy Gutschmidt. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Vitina Zahorcak; daughters, Alyssa Zahorcak and Susan Merryman; son-in-law, Michael Merryman; and 2 grandchildren, Leah and Alexander Merryman.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Chesapeake Catholic Church, 8325 Ventnor Rd, Pasadena, MD 21122.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Chesapeake.
