It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Edward Lee Thomas Jr., who left this world on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on a crisp Sunday, January 28th, 1968, in Maryland, Robert spent his life becoming a beloved member of his community in Arnold, MD.
Robert was a dedicated auto mechanic for over a decade at Henderson Auto Salvage, where he was known for his excellent work ethic and unparalleled skill. His passion for cars extended beyond his career; Robert was an avid enthusiast of car shows, drag racing, and dirt racing. He delighted in building and painting cars, a testament to his creativity and dedication.
A proud veteran, Robert served his country honorably in the Marines, instilling in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life until he was medically discharged. Robert's love for the outdoors was reflected in his enjoyment of fishing and spending precious time with family and friends, who meant the world to him.
Robert was predeceased by his loving parents, Robert Edward Lee Thomas Sr. and Virginia Lee Thomas, and his brother, Edward Devaux Thomas III.
He is survived by his children, Christopher Robin Thomas, and Megan Lee Thomas-Dougherty, along with her husband, Shawn, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his loving sister, Bonnie Blackwell and her husband, Roger, Sr. Robert was the proud grandfather to Willow Michele Lee Dougherty, Ava Lee Dougherty, and Jaxon Everett Dougherty, who were the light of his life. He will also be dearly missed by his niece, Amanda Lee Blackwell, and nephew, Roger Blackwell Jr.
Robert was a friend to all, touching the lives of everyone he met with his kindness and unwavering friendship. He understood the true value of community, and once you became his friend, you were a friend for life.
