Richard Charles Vogt, 68, from Glenwood, MD unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Tufts Medical Center. He had just returned from a wonderful trip to Tuscany and Umbria, Italy with his wife after completing a busy tax season.
He was born on February 09,1955 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Kenneth Earl Vogt and Marie Bruce Vogt. He grew up in Ferndale and graduated from Andover High School in 1973. Richard earned his MS in Taxation at the University of Baltimore and passed his Certified Public Accounting (CPA) Exam on his first attempt making him the 6005th CPA in Maryland in July,1978. He owned and operated Richard C. Vogt, CPA, P.A. and Associates in Jessup for over 35 years. He was a continuing member of the AICPA, the National Association of Certified Public Accountants, Inc., the National Association of Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. Richard was also a partner at Maryland Recycle Company, Inc.
In his free time, he loved spending time with family, especially his adorable grandchildren as they whizzed around on scooters, bikes, and electric jeeps across the driveway or creating art work at the kitchen table. He always looked forward to reading a big stack of books to them before bedtime. He was a coffee connoisseur but partial to Starbucks dark roast. Through his natural intellectual curiosity and years of scholarship, he gained a great appreciation for Early American History and was an expert on Benjamin Franklin and the other Founding Fathers. He also enjoyed collecting old and rare coins as another way of learning about history.
Richard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Julie I. Vogt, his children Lauren C. Smith and Stephen C. Vogt, his siblings Patricia Mezzanotte, Kenneth Vogt, Anthony Vogt, and Ronald Vogt, and his grandchildren; Allison Smith, Alexandra Smith, Mila Vogt, Liam Vogt, Leo Vogt, Kinsley Vogt, and Kiera Vogt
