Richard Stephens Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Richard Gerald Stephens, who departed this life on Friday, September 5th, 2025, at the age of 86.

Born on Friday, June 2nd, 1939, in Baltimore, Maryland, Richard was the beloved son of the late Daisy Weippert and Lee Raymond Weippert. He was preceded in death by his dear sister, Doris Dorsey, and brother-in-law, Charles Brown.

Richard proudly served in the United States Army, where he developed the values of discipline and loyalty that he carried throughout his life. Following his honorable discharge, he dedicated 40 years of his professional life as a Parts Clerk at McClung Logan Equipment Co., where he was respected and admired by his colleagues.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Richard was a man of simple pleasures. In his younger years, he was an active participant in multiple bowling leagues, a sport he enjoyed tremendously. Richard relished spending time with his family, fishing, and was an avid fan of the Orioles and Baltimore Colts. Those who knew him best will remember him enjoying his morning ritual of coffee and doughnuts, particularly cherishing his time at Dunkin.

Richard was a quiet and reserved man with a sweet and easygoing nature, occasionally surprising his loved ones with his wit and humor. He was a devoted family man, deeply loved and respected by those he held close.

He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Pamela Hawkins, son-in-law Raymond Hawkins of Pasadena, Maryland, and his sister, Patsy Brown. He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughter, Ashlie June Genther, and her husband, Mark Anthony Genther. Richard took immense joy in his great-grandchildren: Mark "MJ" Anthony Genther, Jr., Micaiah "Cai" Cody Genther, and eagerly anticipated the arrival of his great-granddaughter, Addalie "Addie" June Margaret Genther. He will be fondly remembered by his multiple nieces and nephews.

In honoring Richard's memory, donations may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church of Severna Park, MD, reflecting his values of community and faith. (click HERE)
