Richard C. Purkey, Sr, 80 a 46 year resident of Pasadena and formerly of Arbutus died on October 29, 2023 at Hospice of the Chesapeake.
He was born on December 13, 1942 in the Pimlico area of Baltimore to the late Emory Clinton Purkey and Mildred Marie Purkey. Mr. Purkey, friends called him "Dick", was the owner and mechanic at R&R Enterprises in Pasadena prior to co-owning Purdell Properties with his son-in-law Josie DeLawder. Together he and Josie bought, remodeled, and then sold or rented properties for 26 years. Mr. Purkey was a past member of the B&O Train Museum. He was a master of all trades. He loved trains, boating, cars and his family.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings Virginia Lee Nash, Larry Raymond Purkey, and Emory Clinton Purkey, Jr. and his grandson Joey DeLawder.
He is survived by his children Denise DeLawder and her husband Josie, Judy Baker and her husband Gary, Richard Purkey, Jr. and his wife Amy and Katelynn Purkey, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Stallings Funeral Home where a memorial service will begin at 4:00 pm.
