Richard Maxwell Obituary

Richard R. Maxwell, a cherished resident of Pasadena, Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on August 24, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland, Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a treasured friend to many.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine Irene Maxwell of Pasadena, MD, and his daughter, Denise Wendler and her husband Kevin, and brother-in-law George Sparks. His legacy extends to his grandchildren, Karl Wendler and his wife Becci, Jennifer Hammond and her husband Rick, and Bradley Wendler and his wife Holly, as well as his great-grandchildren, Juliet, Eleanor, Yvie, Lily, Sean, Brian, and Cory, who cherished every moment spent with him.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Loretta Maxwell, his daughter Cathy Sparks, and four brothers and five sisters, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Richard dedicated his professional life as a steel worker for the Steel Mill, retiring only after 38 years of service.

He served honorably in the Army, embodying the values of duty and service throughout his life. He held a lifetime membership with The Moose, where he cultivated many lifelong friendships.

Richard's true passion was art. A talented portrait painter, he expressed himself through painting and drawing, creating pieces that have touched the hearts of many. His love for music was evident in his joy for singing, dancing, and playing guitar, often filling gatherings with warmth and melody.

In his leisure, he enjoyed crabbing and fishing but always returned to his beloved art, which was his solace and joy.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the afternoon visitation at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
