Richard W. Franklin

Richard W. Franklin, 70, a lifelong resident of Pasadena, MD, passed away after a long-fought battle on January 25, 2023 at the Compass Hospice Center in Centreville, MD.

Mr. Franklin was born on October 11, 1952 in Annapolis, MD to the late George Franklin and Mary Gall. He worked for Reliable Contracting for 20 years before eventually owning and operating his own lawn, garden, and landscaping business in Gambrills. Outside of work, Rick was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and enjoyed taking trips to the casino, traveling, and watching all kinds of sports (especially the Ravens, Orioles and Capitals). Rick was an amazing athlete in many sports, including bowling, baseball, softball, and golf. He also enjoyed camping with his family as his children grew up. Music was his passion, where he was lead singer in many local bands. Above all else, he was a family man who was always supportive and loved attending all of his grandchildren's events. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Franklin is preceded in death by his step-mother, Josephine Franklin, and brother, Larry Franklin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Karen Franklin; daughters, Chrissy (Mike) Bianco and Jen Kenney; brother, Bobby (Janice) Myers); sister-in-law, Mary Jane Franklin; 4 grandchildren, Addison, Ryan, Lucas, and Liam; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, February 3 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122 where funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 4 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
