Rebecca “Betty” M. Ervin-Burgess, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on Tuesday, October 27, 1931, Rebecca was a cherished resident of Pasadena for many years. She lived in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, for several years before returning to Pasadena. In 2010, she moved to Linthicum, Maryland.
Rebecca's life was a tapestry of dedication and love. She served as Manager at Ben Franklin stores, a position where her work ethic and commitment were widely respected. Beyond her professional life, Rebecca was deeply involved in her community and contributed her time and energy to many organizations. She was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church, participated in the Glen Burnie Elks and Moose, and was a familiar face at the American Legion Post #195.
Rebecca was passionate about her interests including crocheting, dancing, bowling, hosting lively parties, and organizing bus trips. Her vibrant personality and love of life were truly infectious, and she brought joy to all who knew her.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her husbands, John L. Ervin Sr. and Joe Burgess; her parents, Thomas and Eva Jenkins; her son, John L. Ervin Jr.; and her brothers, Conrad, Arnold, Owen, Lester, Charles, James, and Samuel Jenkins.
She is survived by her loving sons Terry Ervin, Thomas Ervin, Timothy Ervin, and Michael Ervin; her devoted brother Paul Jenkins; and her beloved sister, Leah Bullock. She also leaves behind 10 adored grandchildren and 15 cherished great-grandchildren, who will continue to honor her legacy.
Family and friends are invited to honor Rebecca’s life at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 am. A funeral service will take place at the same location at 11:30 am. Entombment Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Rebecca to one of the following charitable organizations: Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, or Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
