Penelope 'Penny' Pellegrini Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Penelope "Penny" Pellegrini, a cherished member of the Pasadena, Maryland community, on Sunday, June 21st, 2026. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 6th, 1946, Penny's life was a testament to kindness, passion, and devotion to family and education.

Having made Pasadena her home since 1975, Penny’s influence was felt throughout the community and particularly at the Gibson Island Country School, where she dedicated over 20 years of her life to teaching. With a Bachelor’s degree in special education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), her commitment to nurturing young minds was unparalleled. She retired in 2006, leaving behind a legacy of inspired students and appreciative parents.

Penny is survived by her son, Jason Pellegrini (Kathleen Turner). Her energy and love live on through her adored grandchildren: Nicolas, Tyler, Liliana, Meghan, Alessandra, Roman, and Mia. She was predeceased by her beloved spouse, Nicola Pellegrini; her parents, Richard and Emma Reardon; and her son, Jeremy Pellegrini.

A devoted member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, Penny’s warmth and creativity were expressed through her participation in church groups, as well as her sewing group Sew Blessed. She had a love for sewing, quilting, baking, and singing in the choir. Her gentle spirit and knack for speaking her mind with eloquence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

There will be a gathering at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Family, friends, and community members are invited to celebrate Penelope's life at a service at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 4760 Mountain Road Pasadena, MD, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11:00 am. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Church or Doctors Without Borders, reflecting her enduring commitment to compassion and community service.

Penelope Pellegrini will forever be remembered for her sweet disposition, her dedication to her family and students, and her vibrant spirit. She leaves behind innumerable sweet memories for those fortunate enough to have known her.
