It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Newton Emmert Shank Jr., who departed this world on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on January 14, 1936, Newton lived a remarkable 89 years filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.
A longtime resident of Pasadena, Maryland, Newton is fondly remembered as a central office technician, skillfully dedicating 28 years to his profession. Prior to his civilian career, he served his country with pride and honor as a member of the Navy.
Newton's roots in the community ran deep. He was a cherished member of both the Pasadena United Methodist Church and the Lansdowne Christian Church, where he cultivated friendships and contributed to his community's spirit.
Newton’s life was enriched by his devotion to family. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Catherine Shank, and his adoring son, Bryan Shank and wife Andrea. He was the beloved grandfather of Allen Newton Shank and Jacob Matthew Shank, who were a source of immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Dianne White, who shared countless invaluable moments with him.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Newton Shank and Helen Marie Shank, as well as his siblings, Kenneth Shank, Thomas Shank, and Barbara Campbell, whose memories he carried with him always.
Newton's hobbies portrayed a man who loved life’s simple pleasures. Whether hunting, fishing, or just being outdoors, he found tranquility and joy in nature. Known for his good sense of humor and infectious laughter, Newton was always tinkering with things, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. His warm presence was a comfort to many, and his family always came first.
To celebrate the life of Newton Emmert Shank Jr., the family welcomes relatives and friends to Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland. An afternoon visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by an evening visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service to honor and remember him will take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 11:00 AM. Interment to immediately follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
Newton touched the lives of many with his kindness and humor. His legacy will continue to live on through his family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be immensely missed but forever loved and remembered.
