Michael Thomas Ernest, Sr., 77, a lifelong resident of Pasadena, MD, died on May 31, 2022 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mr. Ernest was born on July 18, 1944 in Baltimore, MD to the late John and Mary Ernest. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1963 and eventually became a firefighter for the Baltimore City Fire Department. He was also a lifelong member of the Lake Shore Volunteer Fire Department where he also served as past Chief. In addition to his career as a firefighter, Mike also worked for Gonce Funeral Home and various other funeral homes in the Glen Burnie and Pasadena area. Outside of work, he was a member St. Jane Frances Catholic Church and the Glen Burnie Moose Lodge. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed relaxing on the water, making rosaries, and visiting the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes in Emmitsburg. Above all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ernest is preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanne, and 7 siblings. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Carol Ernest; sons, Michael Jr. (Lisa) and Matthew Ernest, both of Pasadena; daughters, Natalie Ernest of Salisbury and Megan (Joe) Mellinger of Stevensville; brother, David Ernest of Florida; 8 grandchildren, Jennette, Brandon, and Christopher Ernest, Austin Harp, Olivia and Owen Elliott, and Giuseppe and Lillianna Mellinger; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, June 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Rd., Pasadena, MD 21122. A Funeral Mass will take place on that same date at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave, Millersville, MD 21108. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
