Mattie Cannon Obituary

Mattie Lee Cannon, 84, a 45 year resident of Anne Arundel County, Maryland and formerly of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Future Care Chesapeake in Arnold, MD.

She was born on Thursday, November 9th,1939 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Harry and Alma Eddins and later fostered by Mrs. Lucille Smith. A loving mother and homemaker for most of her life, she also cared for her grandchildren until they reached school age. She began working in the Kiddie Korner at Southdale Bowling Center in Pasadena, MD helping out the league bowlers with their children.  Mrs. Cannon very much enjoyed her last nine years at Future Care Chesapeake where she made many friends and considered many like family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leon Cannon and 5 siblings.
She is survived by her daughters Charlene Miller (Lee), Sheri Garrison (Bryan), and Madalyn Shawen (Gary); her grandchildren Danielle Moore, David Garrison, Brad Garrison, Britini Shawen, and Alec Garrison; 4 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, December 19th, 2023  at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.  Funeral services will immediately follow (live streamed HERE and below) with interment at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake by clicking HERE.
