Martha I. Barr

Martha I. Barr, 101, a 78 year resident of Pasadena and formerly of Glen Burnie, MD, died on February 11, 2021 at the Genesis Health Care Center in Severna Park.

Mrs. Barr was born on January 29, 1920 in New Germany, MD to the late Arthur and Cora Broadwater. She was a dedicated homemaker who also helped her husband run his automotive business, Barlen Motors on Mountain Rd., from 1951 to 1972. Outside of work, she was a longtime member of Magothy United Methodist Church and served on the Glen Square Apartments Council from 1995 to 2006, where she chaired the Flea Market and Bingo Committees and also held the position of Treasurer.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barr is preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 30 years, Raymond A. Barr; sons, Harold W. Barr and Alexander Barr; and brothers, Glen Dale, Ellwood, Arlie, and Harry Broadwater, and Elmer Durst. She is survived by her son, Larry R Barr of Pasadena; daughters, Zella M. Gassmann of Glen Burnie and Sandy Napier of Pasadena; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Magothy United Methodist Church Chapel in the Woods (weather permitting) on June 26, 2021 at 1:00 PM. Interment private.
