Mark Norton Schatz, 92, a resident of Glen Burnie for 67 years, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Hospice of the Chesapeake.
Mr. Schatz was born September 3, 1929 in Laurel, MD to the late Mark and Mariam Schatz. He graduated from Calvert Hall in 1947. He earned a Bachelor's degree from Loyola College where he graduated from in the early 1950's. After his graduation, he worked for the National Archives in Washington, D.C. He then went on the work for Glen Haven Cemetery until he opened his own shop, Maryland Memorials, with his wife until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the Ann Arrundell County Historical Society, the Glen Burnie Kiwanis Club, and the Sons of the American Revolution. He was the Author of many history books and was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. He was also a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Schatz is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ann R. Schatz and son Stephen Mark Schatz. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Lee Schatz and her wife Antonia Stevenson of Baltimore, MD, daughter-in-law Evelyn Hoban, and grandson Joseph Schatz.
Friends may call Thursday, October 7th from 7-9 pm and Friday, October 8th from 9:30 am - 10:30 am at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 8th at 11:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 7436 B & A Blvd., Glen Burnie, MD 21061. A burial will take place at Glen Haven Memorial Park immediately following funeral services.
