Marie Bradley Obituary

Marie Amelia Hanzook Bradley, 1927- 2022, a lifelong resident of Maryland, lived independently at home until she nearly completed her ninety-six year life journey on September 19, 2022. She had been the loving wife of Andrew Edward Bradley, Sr., for over 60 years who predeceased her in 2009 at 91 years.  She is survived by her children, Sarah Ann Bradley Hay of California, Colleen Bradley Weidman (Richard), and Andrew Edward Bradley, Jr., (Karen) of Maryland. An extremely proud grandmother, her six grandchildren hold many years of fond memories of their Nana – Liese Weidman Williams; Brianna Weidman Stallings; Joseph George Weidman II; Scott Cormany Hay, Christopher Bradley Hay; and Andrew Edward Bradley, III.  Always one to stop and say hello to the little ones, her eleven great grandchildren brought many joyful hours to her later years – Hannah, Hailee, Emma, Grace and Tyler Stallings; Franklin, Hazel, Henry and Ruby Hay; Decker and Koda Weidman.

Marie was born in Baltimore to the late Savia and Anna Hanzook. She had three sisters and three brothers, five of whom have preceded her in passing - John Hanzook, Joseph Hanzook, Genevieve Hanzook Syah, Melvin Hanzook, and Dorothy Hanzook Gundling. Her sister Joyce Ann Hanzook Wood lives in Maryland.

Her early years were spent in Baltimore City before moving to Brooklyn Park. A graduate of Glen Burnie High School, she began her work career with Western Union Telegraph and she retired from the Social Security Administration. She was active as a Committee Chairman with St. Dominic’s CYO.  She often marched in the Baltimore St. Patrick’s Day parade with her Irish husband and belonged to the St. John’s Old Timers Club. She was a member of the Moose, the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and an avid bowler. She loved to bake and cook for her family.  If there was music, Marie was dancing.

Marie would drive to see family in Ohio, New York, and Virginia.  She particularly treasured her extended visits with her daughter Sarah Ann on her California ranch.  She enjoyed frequent trips to Atlantic City NJ, Harrington DE, Assateague Island, and Ocean City MD.

A member of the “Greatest Generation”; she will be remembered for her love of family, endless energy, strong determination to live independently and her great sense of humor.

A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 3-6 p.m. Interment will take place at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery on Friday, February 10 at 1:00 p.m. The family suggests that donations in Marie’s honor may be made to the Arthritis Foundation in lieu of flowers.  We thank the Lord for Nana!
