Lucky Delmas Maynard, 79, a lifelong resident of Maryland, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Hospice of the Chesapeake.
Mr. Maynard was born January 13, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Charles and Vinia Maynard. He worked as a Brick Mason since he was 14 years old and came to own his own business in his later years. He retired from Masonry after 60 years of serving in the industry. In his free time, he enjoyed doing yard work, visiting West Virginia and gardening. He loved his food, especially desserts. Every night, he would ask for his bowl of ice cream or Italian ice, sometimes twice if he was really craving it. Mr. Maynard was the type of man who cared for everyone before himself. He was so kind and so thoughtful and one of the greatest people you could have ever met. He was a strong man who had great perseverance, determination and a great will to live. He loved life. Above all, Mr. Maynard loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Maynard is preceded in death by his wife, Shelia Maynard and siblings, Juanita Myers, John L. Maynard, Thomas Maynard, Denny Maynard and Nellie Jean. He is survived by his children, Daniel Maynard and his wife Dawn and Shelia Fenzel and her husband Ronald; siblings, Willard Maynard, Cecil Maynard, Michael Maynard, Sr., and Charles Maynard, Jr.; grandchildren, Michael George, Heather Johnson, Andrew Maynard, Kristen Maynard, Brandon Fenzel, Jacob Fenzel, and Christopher Fenzel; great grandchildren, Caleb Wilczek, Caiden Bees, Bella George, Ellie George, Katie George, Cody George and Oliver Maynard; 2 very special people, Mary and Jim O'Neill and his very best fur friend, Goose.
