It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Liwen Chen, aged 80, of Baltimore, MD. Liwen passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on April 23, 1944, in Shanghai, China, Liwen was a devoted family man, respected engineer, and cherished friend.

Liwen spent the majority of his professional life as an engineer with Shanghai Shen Wang Chang, where he dedicated 40 years of exemplary service before retiring in 2009. His colleagues remember him as a hardworking and very smart professional whose meticulous approach and ingenious solutions left a lasting impact on the industry.

His life was filled with love, laughter, and a dedication to his family's well-being. Liwen was a loving father to Janet Fickau and a loyal husband to his wife, Hua Chen, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. His siblings, Hong Geng Chen, Hong Yin Chen, and Yin Chen, will remember him fondly for his wisdom, warmth, and unwavering support.

Liwen found joy in watching Chinese soap operas and tending to his beautiful flower garden. His creativity and handiness with tools were well known among friends and family, and he leaves behind many happy memories filled with lively discussions and laughter.

To honor Liwen's wishes, services and interment will remain private. The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to everyone who has shown love and support during this difficult time.

Liwen was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Yuan Qi Chen and Yucai Zhang. His legacy continues through his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
