Linda Lee Darnell, a beloved wife, mother, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025. Born on Friday, March 9th, 1945, in Baltimore, she was a lifelong resident who devoted her life to her family, faith, and community.
Linda will be dearly missed by her two sons, David Darnell and Mark Darnell and his wife Hannah. She also leaves behind her cherished cousins, Tim Parker, Carole Gienapp, and Carole's husband Walt. Linda was preceded in death by her loving parents, August A. Nicklas and Naomi Nicklas, as well as her devoted spouse of nearly 55 years, Frederick W. Darnell III.
Throughout her life, Linda's heart was as generous as it was gentle. She was a dedicated secretary, a profession she honored with unwavering commitment and integrity. Her colleagues and friends will remember her tireless work ethic and the kindness and warmth she brought to the workplace.
Linda shared her love for music as an accomplished pianist at the Anchor Baptist Church, where she found solace and joy in her faith. Her musical talents were well known, and she spent many joyful hours sharing her love of music with others, lifting their spirits with her melodies. Her life was filled with creative pursuits; she was a talented craftswoman, enjoying sewing and cooking with an artist's touch.
Those who knew Linda will remember her as selfless and nurturing, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her faith guided her every step, and it was this steadfast devotion that gave her the strength and compassion to care for her husband, Frederick, through his battle with Parkinson's Disease. Her caring nature was a testament to her faith and her tireless desire to bring others closer to Jesus.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5th from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122. A service will be held Thursday, March 6th at 11:00 am at Anchor Baptist Church, 320 W Pasadena Road, Millersville, MD 21108. Interment will take place immediately following services at Loudon Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Linda's family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Anchor Baptist Church, an institution that was central to her life and work, and a place she deeply cherished.
Linda's presence will be sorely missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and selflessness will forever inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
