Leroy Pawlak, 73, a lifelong resident of Pasadena, MD, died on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
He was born on Sunday, January 7, 1951 in Baltimore, MD to the late Franciszek and Ethel May Pawlak. Mr. Pawlak worked as an investigator for 37 years for Nationwide Insurance and has been retired for the past several years.
He enjoyed working with his wife Diane on various renovation projects in their house in Pasadena, as well as their house in Garrett County. Their cabin in Garrett County was their refuge and they spent many, many wonderful times together making precious memories in this country setting. In his free time, he also loved following the stock market and was a financial and computer whiz. His love for traveling took him and his wife on many cruises, and he was always entertained by watching his wife gambling in any casino she wished to visit. His family describes him as a wonderful, caring person who never met a stranger. Mr. Pawlak was a well-loved, dependable, and an all-around great person, as well as a loving husband, fantastic father, and a wonderful Poppy. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Francis Pawlak, brother; Veronica Starky, niece; and Mary Ellen Bularz (sister-in-law). He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Diane Pawlak; Deana Santoni (Paul Smith), daughter; Danielle Sank, grandchild; Johnathan Sank (Jackie), grandchild; Gracie Smith, grandchild; Sandra Pawlak, sister in law; and nieces and nephews, Frank Pawlak III (Sherry), Noell Lynch, Sandy Gillikin (Blye); Ernest Hamilton, Jr. (Debbie), brother-in-law; nephews Nicholas (Sabrina) and Justin Hamilton (Faith); Raymund Bularz, Sr., brother-in-law; and nieces and nephews, Denise Bularz, Lisa King, and Raymund, Bularz, Jr. (Karen).
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Stallings Funeral Home Pasadena, MD from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens in Baltimore, MD at 11:00am.
