Lawrence Herbert Groves

Lawrence Herbert Groves, 96, a 61 year resident of Glen Burnie and formerly of Terra Alta, WV, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021. 

Mr. Groves was born June 28, 1925 in Terra Alta, WV to the late Delph and Mamie Groves. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy, and became a certified diesel mechanic. After his discharge in 1946 he worked as a diesel mechanic for 23 years until his retirement. In his retirement, he started driving school buses and then went on to drive Tour buses. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. He also enjoyed working on projects in his shed and watching the Orioles (but only if they were winning). 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Groves is preceded in death by his son Lawrence E. Groves, brother Willard Groves, sisters Winnie Metheny and Grace Sheets. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 74 years, Margaret Groves, daughter Linda Sue Groves and her husband Jay Miller of Hillsboro, WV, brother Stanley Groves and his wife Lucille of Kingsville, MD, grandchildren Emily Miller, Laura Miller and great granddaughter Anna Grace Miller.
