Kenneth L. Edmonds, Sr., 87, a 60 year resident of Maryland and formerly of Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the Loch Raven VA Hospital.
Mr. Edmonds was born August 19, 1936 in Pikeville, KY to the late Alonzo and Truly Edmonds. At 18, Mr. Edmonds enlisted in the Army where he served honorably for 14 years. During this time, he fought in the Vietnam war and was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor. He was very proud of his military service and honored to serve his Country. After his discharge, he was a construction worker until his retirement at 70 years old. In his free time he enjoyed tending to his garden and spending time with family. He was an early bird who enjoyed the simpler things in life, like sitting outside with a hot cup of coffee and nature watching. He loved animals, especially his dog, Bella, and granddogs Bubba and the late LilaBug. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Edmonds is preceded in death by his brothers, Pete Edmonds, Bobby Edmonds and Tom Edmonds. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Dawn Edmonds; son Kenneth Lon Edmonds, Jr. and his wife Kelly; step-son Donald Hauf, Jr. and his wife Debbie; siblings, Bill Edmonds, Homer Edmonds and Betty Adkins; grandchildren, Adam Edmonds, Alexis Prior-Brown, Matthew Hauf, Megan Portillo and her husband Ryan and great granddaughter, Sophia Portillo.
