Joseph R. Smith

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph R. Smith. Born on January 15th, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland to Hazel Smith and the late Paul Smith  Joe peacefully departed this life on November 22nd, 2024, residing in Pasadena, Maryland at the time of his passing.

Joe dedicated much of his life to owning and operating a successful recycling business until his retirement in 2014. In his free time he enjoyed watching car races, wrestling and the Ravens and betting on NFL games.  He also enjoyed eating steamed crabs and spending time with his friends at the Curtis Bay Athletic Club. 

He is survived by his cherished mother, Hazel Smith; his devoted aunt, Mary Perrine; his daughters, Kristina Smith, and Samantha Hartney; his adoring granddaughter, Vyctoria Eckhardt; his dear sisters, Judy Jenkins and Charlene Wayne; and a special friend who was like family, Gail Coles. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Paul Smith, and his brother, Paul Smith Jr. 

Joe's life will be celebrated with an afternoon visitation and a memorial service on Saturday, November 30th, 2024, at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm, followed by a memorial service from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
