John "Jack" Anthony Cwiek, 82, a 25 year resident of Pasadena, MD, died on September 6, 2021 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.
Mr. Cwiek was born on August 15, 1939 in Baltimore, MD to the late John and Mary Cwiek. He completed his high school studies at the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute where he also played baseball and basketball. He played amateur baseball for the Leone's baseball team, which later became Johnny's baseball team. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves. Later in life, he joined the Maryland Baseball Club called the Boys of Summer. In addition to his talent for baseball, Jack was also an accomplished artist. He graduated from the Maryland Institute of Arts in the early 1960s and was skilled in all mediums, especially water colors and acrylics.
Mr. Cwiek worked as a salesman for several construction equipment companies, including United Rentals for many years before retiring in 2010. He was also a very devout Christian and faithful member of Heritage Community Church in Severn. Jack also never lost his love for baseball and softball, and even played in the Maryland Seniors League as he got older. He was truly a remarkable man and will be dearly missed by all of his family, friends, and his dog, Peaches.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cwiek is preceded in death by his sister, Loretta Cwiek. He is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Alma Cwiek; sons, Philip and Daniel Cwiek; daughters, Bronwen Ganovski, Suzanne Hays, Amy Luckett; step-son, Jason Izquierdo; step-daughter, Jennifer Izquierdo; brother, Rodney Cwiek; sisters, Doris Soboleski and Marie McBride; 20 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandson.
Family and friends may visit on Monday, September 13 from 10-11 a.m. at Heritage Community Church, 8146 Quarterfield Rd, Severn, MD 21144 where funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
