John N. Sturgeon, Sr., 74, a resident of Pasadena for over 40 years died on July 29, 2022 at Hospice of the Chesapeake.
He was born on August 29, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Norman and Frances Sturgeon.
Mr. Sturgeon served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Big Red One during the Tet Offensive.
He was a Baltimore City Police Officer, retiring as a Sergeant in 2003 after 30 years of service.
Mr. Sturgeon opened his home for the Pasadena Train Garden from 1995 until 2018. He was a member of the FOP, the Brooklyn Boosters, Harley Owners Group (HOG), the American Legion Post 40, a life member of the VFW, and the Glen Burnie Moose. He enjoyed riding motorcycles model trains, pool league and traveling.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son Christopher Sturgeon and his brother Walter Sturgeon.
Mr. Sturgeon is survived by his wife of 37 years, June Sturgeon, his son John "Jay" N. Sturgeon (Heather), his brother Robert Sturgeon, his sisters Linda Pumphrey and Fran Jones, his grandchildren Ryder and Sydney, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Ziva.
Services are private. Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the United States by clicking HERE
