John (Jack) W. Harris, 84, a 47- year resident of Pasadena, MD, died at his home on Friday, May 20, 2022.
Mr. Harris was born on Wednesday, June 2nd, 1937 in Portsmouth, OH to the late William and Thelma Harris. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1963. He also worked at Domino Sugar, retiring after 36 years. Outside of work, Mr. Harris enjoyed visiting Downs Park and Fort Smallwood Park where he loved just being surrounded by nature and wildlife, especially birds. He also loved spending time with his family and was known as quite the jokester who loved to get a rise out of people. Above all else, Mr. Harris loved Jesus and expressed his strong and vibrant faith in many ways, including reading his Bible and telling others about the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Though he will be missed, his family takes comfort knowing that he is in Heaven with his Lord and loved ones.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary D. Harris and brother, Thomas Harris. He is survived by his son, Matthew Harris, and his wife, Amanda; daughter, Cynthia Gordon, and her husband, Steve; sister, Todd Hammel; five grandchildren, Julia Townsend and her husband, Andrew; Abby Harris and her partner, Kody Rohrbach; Hannah Darnell and her husband, Mark; Steven Gordon and his wife, Mary; Ben Gordon and his wife, Rosie; and one great-grandchild, Noah Gordon.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, where funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 25th, 2022 at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
