John Hall Obituary

John Walter Hall, 77, of Pasadena, passed away suddenly on March 28, 2022, at Union Memorial Hospital. John was born on April 27, 1944, to Dorothea and Joseph Hall, in Baltimore, Maryland. He is survived by his three children, Rick, Holly, and Sharon, his former wife, Jennifer, and his three sisters, Judy, Carolyn, and Elinor. John was preceded in death by his sister JoAnn. John served four years in the United States Air Force, followed by over forty years working for the Department of Defense.

John was a beloved member of the Pasadena community. He would start each morning with breakfast at his favorite local diner, Cookies Kitchen, followed by golf with friends several days a week. John also served as the president of his bowling league, “Thursday Morning Mixed”, as well as the captain of his bowling team, “Splitting Headache”. In addition to his time spent with the adult league, John coached and assisted a youth bowling league. John loved working with the children and was always excited to talk about their accomplishments. For the last several decades John spent at least one, often multiple, evenings each week playing 8 ball and 9 ball pool with both friends and family. He was one of the most dependable of teammates, as well as pool captains, often arriving early to practice and staying afterwards to have a drink with his various teams. When John wasn’t bowling, golfing, or shooting pool, he could frequently be found playing cards in the evenings with friends.

John enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was especially close with his three children and his three step nieces. He was known for his easy-going nature, and quirky, silly sense of humor. He was a voracious reader, lover of history, and a crossword fanatic.  He also loved to travel and be out on the open road. At last count, John had made it to all fifty states, and countless countries, including Australia, Ireland, Scotland, England, Japan, and Canada, just to name a few. John instilled a love of travel and nature in his children, all three of whom were lucky to enjoy many trips with him over the years.

John’s absence has left a void in the lives of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed and forever loved.
