It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Stephen Clark, who departed this life on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on Monday, November 2nd, 1953, John was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, dedicated community member, and a cherished friend to many. He resided in Pasadena, Maryland, where he created innumerable memories with his beloved family and friends.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Marian "Bunnie" Jean Clark, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. He leaves behind his adoring children: Sean Michael Clark (Sarah), Ian Matthew Clark, and Jacelyn Celia Clark; his treasured bonus children: Karen Sue Waters (Wayne), Brian Patrick Kreamer, and Jennifer Carol Conner (Pete). He is also survived by his adored grandchildren Jacob Clark, Sophia Clark, Wyatt Marshall, and ten bonus grandchildren, along with seventeen bonus great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to his life. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Foxy and Cole.
John is also survived by his adopted siblings Debbie Jean Clark (John) and Chris Clark (Shirley), his birth sibling Michael Bagley (Tammy), and his brother-in-law Eric Clarke. John was predeceased by his parents, Theodore Nichols Clark and Elsie Jean Clark, and his sister, Rita Clarke. He is also preceded in death by his dog, Baron.
A proud alumnus of the University of Maryland, class of 1976, John excelled in his career in outside advertising sales, a role he held with dedication for 28 years until his retirement. His professional life was marked by integrity and a commitment to excellence.
John's life was rich with passion and purpose. As a committed member of the Rotary since 2004, and an active participant in the Venice Civic Association, where he served as president for many years, John embodied the spirit of community service. His love for music was a lifelong pursuit, playing as a bass guitarist in rock bands from his high school days until recently. An avid tennis and basketball player, John also found joy and fulfillment in sports and recreation. In his earlier years, he was a basketball coach for numerous teams in Anne Arundel County.
Known for his relentless organization, John always carried a leatherbound book and planner pad to make meticulous notes, embodying his belief in the power of planning and preparation.
John Clark was more than his accomplishments. He was a beacon of kindness and a reservoir of love. His selfless dedication to his community and family was evident in all aspects of his life. His warmth and optimism touched everyone who knew him, leaving a legacy of love and service that will endure.
A celebration of John's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember this remarkable man who gave so much to so many. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rotary Club in Lakeshore - Severna Park, 1930 Main Avenue, Pasadena, MD 21122.
John Stephen Clark will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, John, in the eternal embrace of love and grace.
