It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Betty Dick, a cherished resident of Severna Park, MD, who departed this life on Monday, December 1st, 2025, at the age of 90. Joan was born on Sunday, July 21st, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland, to her loving parents, William Mayo Tallent Sr. and Ernestine Tallent.
Joan was a devoted and loving housewife, dedicating her life to nurturing her family and home. Her warm and gentle spirit was evident to all who knew her. Joan was a longtime member of the Jenkins Memorial Church for over 24 years, where she worshiped and served her loving God. Her kindness and compassion were well known among the congregation. In her leisure time, Joan enjoyed baking and cooking, and she found joy in the simple pleasure of watching TV and solving word puzzles.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Lyle Dick; her parents, William Mayo Tallent Sr. and Ernestine Tallent; and her brothers, James Tallent and Dicky Tallent.
She leaves to cherish her memory her dear brother, William M. Tallent Jr.; her cherished nephew, Mark Tallent of Severna Park, MD; as well as her beloved niece and nephew, Danny Tallent, and Tracey Tallent.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation hours at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025. An afternoon visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, followed by an evening visitation from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A funeral service in celebration of Joan’s life will be held at the same location, Stallings Funeral Home, on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025, at 10:00 am. Interment will take place immediately following the funeral service at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
Joan will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched with her kindness, warmth, and compassion. May she rest in peace, reunited with her beloved husband and family who have gone before her.
