Jared Alan Finnerty, beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and soldier, passed away on Sunday, February 16th, 2025, at the age of 26, while temporarily stationed at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. Born on January 23rd, 1999, in Baltimore, Maryland, Jared was a vibrant soul whose love for life and unwavering dedication to his country touched everyone who knew him.
Jared spent his formative years in Pasadena, Maryland, where he attended Chesapeake High School. His journey of service began in 2019 when he enlisted in the US Army, where he was a proud member of Bravo Company, Second Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, Second Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 10th Mountain Division, stationed at Fort Drum, NY. Jared's dedication and bravery were evident in his recent deployment to the Middle East, and his prior service in Poland and Korea. His commendable service was recognized with numerous awards, including two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, Combat Infantryman Badge, Basic Army Recruiting Badge, and many others.
Beyond his military achievements, Jared was known for his love of life and infectious enthusiasm for his hobbies, which included playing video games, watching baseball, enjoying karaoke nights, and spending quality time with his friends. He was cherished by his family and a close circle of friends.
Jared is survived by his devoted wife, Kara Finnerty of Evans Mills, NY; his father, Richard Finnerty; and his loving sisters, Sierra, Candace, Adre, and Lexy. He leaves behind many other family members who adored him and will forever remember his vibrant spirit and courage.
Visitation will be held at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland. An evening visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 28th, 2025, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and an afternoon visitation will take place on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
