Our baby brother James Zaruba Jr passed away on Christmas Day 2024 at the age of 79 due to an existing heart issue.
Born an raised in the Brooklyn area, he moved to Arnold, MD and eventually to his recent home in Glen Burnie, MD.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and James Zaruba Sr. He leaves behind his daughter Karlie Wilson of Bestheda, MD and a grandson and granddaughter, sisters, Elaine O'Malley (Joseph) from Catonsville, MD, Marie Loar (Don) from St Augustine, FL, brothers Karel Zaruba from Naples, FL, David Zaruba (Kristina) from Pasadena, MD and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim graduated from City College HS and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Baltimore in 1969. Jim worked for and retired from General Motors and later owned and operated a liquor store in Annapolis, MD. After selling his business, he worked for the railroad in Jessup, MD transferring automobiles off rail car transports. Jim loved working on old cars and restored a few vintage autos. His latest project was a restored 1932 Ford Roadster. He was a good hot rod builder and used lead for the bodywork on all his cars. Jim loved going to many local auto and swap shows with his good friend, Mike Szuba.
Jim will be remembered by his joy in working on vintage autos and his love for his family and friends.
