It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James C. Parsons, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, and community figure, who left us peacefully on Sunday, January 12th, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Baltimore, MD, on March 18th, 1943, James spent the majority of his life enriching the lives of those around him while residing in Glen Burnie and Pasadena, MD.
James was the devoted husband of the late Lynn Parsons and the cherished son of the late Chester and Alice Parsons. He is survived by his loving daughters, Jana Parsons (Julie Wooden), Carrie Miller (Scott Miller), Jamie Skorobatsch (Dan Dunkerly), his treasured grandchildren, Nick Burroughs, Zachary Burroughs, Adam Skorobatsch, Laura Skorobatsch, Kale Miller, Maxx Miller, Jorja Miller, Isabelle Dunkerly, and great granddaughter Hailey Burroughs.
James was a self-employed mortgage banker, whose business acumen and integrity were widely respected in the community. Beyond his professional life, he was deeply committed to his passions for sports and coaching. A former coach at Chesapeake Sr High School, James known to many as Mr. Jim was fully invested in fostering growth in girls & boys youth sports and high school athletics, contributing countless hours to coaching and mentoring young athletes.
James was also a proud member of the Board of Directors for the Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame, where he worked tirelessly to promote and celebrate local athletic achievements. His commitment to community and sports left a lasting impact across generations.
A past member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, James valued his faith and community service, always offering a helping hand to those in need. He cherished his time spent with lifelong high school friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
James Parsons was a kind, generous, and inspiring man, whose legacy will live on in the loving family he leaves behind and the countless lives he touched throughout his life. His wisdom, humor, and warmth will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Friends may visit on Thursday January 16, 2025 from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Stallings Funeral Home where funeral services will take place on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Noon followed by interment at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local sports program of your choice in James' memory, to continue his legacy of supporting youth athletics.
