James Francis Lucas, Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, MD, on Thursday, May 14th, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on May 26th, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland, James dedicated his life to his family and community, touching countless lives with his kindness and dedication.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia Ann Lucas of Pasadena, MD, and their three children: Derek, Ryan, and Renee. He leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Owen, Jaida, Lexi, Rylan, and Magnolia, who will greatly miss their grandpa's warmth and wisdom. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Francis Lucas, Sr., and Marjorie Elaine.
Professionally, James was a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist. His love for his work was matched only by his passion for his hobbies, including membership in the American Legion Post 175 and enthusiastic participation in the pool league and golf. Known as a "Mr. Fixit," James had a knack for woodworking and took pride in creating beautiful pieces with his hands.
James had a deep love for music, especially country, with Garth Brooks being his favorite artist. He enjoyed singing karaoke, bringing joy to those around him with his heartfelt performances. A true family man, he lived for moments spent with loved ones, often sharing laughter and love over meals featuring his favorite food, oysters.
His empathy, compassion, and willingness to help anyone in need were hallmarks of his character. James was not only an amazing husband and father but also a friend to many. He lived life to the fullest, finding happiness in simple pleasures like duckpin bowling and the company of his family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Stallings Funeral Home followed by a service at 3:00 pm, where the family welcomes all who knew him to join in remembering a life well-lived and a man loved beyond measure. Please check back for details.
James' legacy of love, generosity, and joy lives on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.
