James M. Anders, Sr., 88, a 44 year resident of Pasadena, MD, died on August 25, 2021 at Seasons Hospice in Baltimore.
Mr. Anders was born on October 14, 1932 in Smyth County, Virginia to the late James and Lockie Anders. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning home, he eventually began a long and successful career as a truck driver who specialized in driving car-carrier trailers. He drove for both Leaseway Trucking and Ryder for a total of 50 years. After retiring from there, Jim started his own local snow removal and mulching business in the Pasadena area.
Outside of work, Mr. Anders was a member of Magothy United Methodist Church in Pasadena, the Patmos-Solomon’s Masonic Lodge #70, and the Boumi Temple of the Scottish Rite Freemasons. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and spending time on his boat, The Jim Dandy. Above all, Jim loved being around his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Anders is preceded in death by his son, Michael F. Anders and siblings, Helen Brandt, Hazel Blevins, Dorothy Dillman, Gladys Groseclose, Elmer Anders, Thomas Anders, Thelma Snider, and Irene Crigger. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Eunice Anders; sons, James M. Anders, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Middle River and Shawn H. McAllister and his wife, Terri, of Linthicum; daughter, Kelley R. Lagaz and her husband, John, of Essex; 6 grandchildren, Bonnie O’Callaghan-Peck, James Anders, Christy Cooke, Sarah Lagaz, Paul Lagaz, and Kyle McAllister; and 7 great-grandchildren, Conor O’Callaghan, Ashling O’Callaghan, Sarah Cooke, Cayden Anders, Brandt Anders, Nathan Anders, and Evie Anders.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, August 29 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Rd., Pasadena, MD 21122. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Magothy United Methodist Church, 3703 Mountain Rd, Pasadena, MD 21122. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
