Harry R. Carroll, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on December 22nd, 1936, Harry was a valued resident of Severna Park since 1963, where he made a lasting impact on his community and family.
After graduating from Calvert Hall in Baltimore in 1955, Harry served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1968. He carried the values of service and dedication into his civilian life, working in Construction Design at BG&E for 39 years until his retirement in 1994 and then volunteering at North Arundel Hospital now known as Baltimore Washington Medical Center for several years.
Harry was a spirited community member, actively involved with St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, American Legion Post #175, Marine Corps League, and the Ocean City Elks, as well as an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. He had a passion for woodworking, a hobby through which he delighted family and friends with his craftsmanship.
Harry is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Gloria M. Carroll, his loving children Patrick Carroll and his wife Sindy, Shawn Carroll and his wife Stacy, Sheila Anderson and her husband Bill, and Kathleen Smith and her husband Smitty, as well as his cherished eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His family meant everything to him, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be carried on by those who knew him best.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert R. and Marie Carroll, and his brothers, Robert and John Carroll.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, followed by a funeral service and a Marine Corp League service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the same location. Interment will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, honoring Harry's generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Harry R. Carroll will be remembered for his enduring love and unwavering dedication to his family and community, his enthusiastic contributions to various organizations, and his honorable service to his country. He had a great sense of humor, was always the life of the party, and will be deeply missed.
