Harry Thompson Boggs, Jr., 80, a 46 year resident of Glen Burnie, MD, died at his home on May 12, 2021.
Mr. Boggs was born on September 16, 1940 in Tampa, Florida to the late Harry Sr. and Blanche Boggs. Before settling in Glen Burnie, he traveled quite a bit, spending time in London, England, Charleston, SC, St. Petersburg, FL, and Riverdale, GA. After serving honorably in the U.S. Navy, he began working in warehouse inventory for Top Value, which was famous for their pink polka dot elephant. In the mid-1980s, he transitioned to a career at NASA, where he served as a Database Administrator and was part of the team that set schedules for shuttle launches. He retired from there in 2018.
Outside of work, Harry, who went by Tom, was a member of Lake Shore Baptist Church in Pasadena, MD, the United States Navy Memorial, and the Fleet Reserve Club of Annapolis. He was also a past member of the Glen Burnie Moose Lodge where he served as a bartender. In his spare time, he enjoyed coaching youth baseball, bowling, and collecting stamps and coins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Boggs is preceded in death by his step-mother, Georgia Boggs; beloved wife of 39 years, Barbara Boggs; brother, Marty Boggs; sisters, Carole Chase and Virginia "Ginny" Davis; and grandson, Gregory Boggs. He is survived by his sons, Harry (Robin Anne) Boggs and Steven (Sharon Anne) Boggs; and 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Eric, Cynthia, Sarah, Andy, Samuel, and Abby.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, May 22 from 1-3 p.m. at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Rd., Pasadena, MD 21122 where funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. A private interment will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
