Gilbert "Cody" Lee Henley, Sr. 90, a 49 year resident of Pasadena, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Henley was born January 1, 1931 in Corolla, NC to the late Lesley and Dell Henley. He served honorably in the US Army for 2 years and the US Coastguard for 19 years, and continued working as a civil service employee for 24 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. In his free time, he enjoyed listening and dancing to music at Carols Western Wear. He was an accomplished guitar player and enjoyed playing music with his brother Rex and his nephews. Mr. Henley was also a talented artist with painting, drawing, and wood carving. He was very innovated and enjoyed inventing things and had many mechanical skills. He was quick witted, and had a great sense of humor. Above all else he loved his family and spending time with them.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Henley is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lillian Henley, step-daughter Nikki Taylor, and step-son Bud Taylor. He is survived by his sons Gilbert Henley Jr. and his wife Sandi of Pasadena, Gary Henley and his wife Cyndi of Pasadena, step-sons Bob Taylor and his wife Hilda of Augusta, WV, Bill Taylor of Hurlock, MD, brother Rex Henley and his wife Betty of Kitty Hawk, NC, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, December 2nd from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122 where services will be held Friday, December 3 rd. at 11:30 am. Interment at Glen Haven Memorial Park immediately following funeral services.
