George William Martin, Jr., 71, a lifelong resident of Pasadena, MD, died on May 2, 2021 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mr. Martin was born on November 11, 1949 in Maryland to the late George Sr. and Rita Martin. In the mid-1960s, he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. After returning from his time in the military, George eventually began a career as a Firefighter for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. He retired in 2010 after over 32 years of service. Outside of work, he enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and hunting. He also loved to share his passion for hunting with others by serving as a Hunting Safety Instructor for the State of Maryland and becoming a member of the Glen Brook Rifle Association.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin is also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Frances E. Martin; sisters, Anna Buettner and Lois Martin; niece, Kala Austin; and best friend, "Rang" Donald Ireland.
He is survived by his daughters, Katina and Crystal Martin; brother, James W. Martin and his wife, Linda; brother-in-law, Robert Buettner, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Janet Marley and Donna Austin; 3 grandchildren, Nyla Kendall, Chad Brown, Jr., and Angelo Martin; nephew, Robert Buettner, Jr.; niece, Gina Bordenski; and best friend, David Meeks.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, May 8 from 10-11 a.m. at Stallings Funeral Home, 3111 Mountain Rd., Pasadena, MD 21122 where a memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. A committal service will immediately follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park. After the services, there will be a Celebration of Life at Katina's residence.
