Gary Franklin Dameron, 79, a 2 year resident of Pasadena, MD and formerly of Carroll County, died on August 5, 2020 at the Crofton Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Dameron was born on August 11, 1940 in Portsmouth, OH to the late Albert and Olive Dameron. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1960. In the 1970s and 80s, he worked as a Manager of Distribution for News American and USA Today. After his time there, Gary opened his own business, the Roast Beef Deli, in the Arbutus area and operated it throughout the 1990s. Most recently, he worked as a Service Writer for Mr. Tire and retired in 2018 after over 26 years of service.
Outside of work, Gary was a proud member of the Marine Corps League # 896. He also enjoyed spending time at his horse farm in Carroll County, playing with his black labs, and watching family and Western movies.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dameron is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 27 years, Brenda Bevans, and sisters, Alberta Knell and Barbara Dameron. He is survived by his son, Mark R. Soltesz and wife, Heather, of Catonsville; daughter, Erin L. Freeman and husband, David, of Pasadena; step-son, Steven Bevans; and 5 grandchildren, Garrett, Nathan, Holly, and Megan Freeman and Alexus Soltesz.
A graveside service will take place on August 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Baltimore National Cemetery. Please be aware that, due to government-mandated COVID-19 restrictions, the cemetery is only allowing 25 people to attend and face coverings must be worn.
