With profound sadness and enduring love, we announce the passing of Gail Marie Trettel, age 72, who departed this life peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024. 

Gail was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, loving sister, dear aunt, and treasured friend. Her life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.

She was born on November 20, 1952, in Sayre, Pennsylvania and lived in the area until moving to West Virginia to pursue her bachelor's degree in physical education from Davis & Elkins college. Gail began her professional career at ARA Services, where she eventually met the love of her life and husband, Jim Trettel. After relocating to Maryland to raise her children, Gail spent the rest of her 20+ year career with Anne Arundel County Public Schools as an Education Specialist. Her commitment and passion for education were unparalleled, and she leaves behind a legacy of countless young lives influenced by her wisdom, patience, and kindness.

Gail was a woman of varied interests and was especially well known for her love of enjoying time at her lake cottage, fishing, and the competitive flair she displayed in Wii Bowling. She was lovingly social, and frequently attended many community events. Gail possessed a steadfast independence and an unyielding spirit that deeply inspired everyone around her.

Gail is survived by her five devoted children: James Trettel and his wife Julie, Rob Trettel and his wife Karla, Dan Trettel and his wife Jessica, Anthony Trettel and his partner Chris Palumbo, and Jennifer Gray and her husband Matt. She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Bob Park and his wife Kay, Bill Park and his wife Daisy, and Jim Park and his wife Terry, along with her 14 cherished grandchildren, each of whom brought tremendous joy to her life.

Gail was preceded in death by her beloved husband, R. James Trettel Jr., her parents, Mary and Grant Truesdale, and her brother, Michael Pa

An afternoon visitation will take place at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland on Saturday, January 11th  from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, offering family and friends an opportunity to share their memories and stories. A memorial service will take place the same day starting at 1:00 pm. 

Gail's family extends their heartfelt appreciation to all those who have offered love and support during this difficult time.

The world feels a little quieter without Gail’s radiant presence, but her legacy of love, education, friendship, and the joy she found casting a line into lake waters will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
