Franklin "Merle" Snyder, a well-loved resident of Severna Park, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026, at the age of 94. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 15th, 1931, Merle lived a rich and fulfilling life, marked by his love for family, community, and sports.

Merle spent 17 years in Pasadena before moving to the Eastern Shore, where he resided for two years before settling in Severna Park. He was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones. Merle is survived by his son, Eric Snyder; his daughter, Deanna 'Dee' Quasny, and her husband, David; his daughter, Mia Snyder; his brother, Bob; and his sister, Mary Ellen. He was a proud grandfather to Zachary, Rebekah, and Duke Quasny, and great grandfather to Dylan, Trey, and Emme Quasny. Merle is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, MaryAnn L. Snyder; his father, Henry Snyder; and his mother, Lillian Snyder.

As a veteran, Merle served in the Navy Reserves during the Korean War, demonstrating his dedication to his country. After his service, Merle pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by founding E+M Construction in his 60s. His business thrived under his leadership until he retired in 2010, leaving a legacy of hard work and perseverance.

A sports enthusiast throughout his life, Merle played basketball, football, baseball, and lacrosse in his youth. He relished cheering on Maryland's sports teams, the Orioles, Ravens, and Colts. Known for his vibrant spirit and love for people, Merle touched the lives of many with his warm heart and generosity. His kind nature and gratitude for life's blessings, often expressed through prayer, will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

The family invites friends and loved ones to pay their respects at a service to be held at Stallings Funeral Home in Pasadena, Maryland, on Saturday, February 7th, 2026. Visitation will take place from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a memorial service officiated by Chip Decker at 4:00 pm. Interment will take place privately at Parkwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for expenses.

Franklin Merle Snyder will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, joy, and gratitude will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
